President's Annual Awards 2019

The President’s Awards are a highlight of our year, allowing Neil Gibson, ADEPT President to acknowledge the work of ADEPT members and partners across the country. This year the awards are taking place at One Whitehall Place, London on Thursday 27th June. In previous years we have seen very high standard of entries and we are excited to see what will be submitted for the 2019 awards.

The award categories are:

Category 1: Delivering Clean Growth - sponsored by Veolia

Councils have a major role to play in the growth agenda, both as a business themselves, but also in their role as promoters of economic growth in their areas and in partnership with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs). This award is intended to highlight where those councils have gone beyond traditional roles to promote Clean Growth, in line with the Government’s strategies on Clean Growth, Road to Zero and Clean Air. This can relate to delivery of services and infrastructure – housing, transport, waste, economic development, planning and growth or how it operates as a business – estate improvements, staff policies, commissioning and procurement, fleet.

Category 2: Deploying digital innovation and technology - sponsored by Kier

ADEPT, its partners, and central government have a shared ambition to create SMART Places, where digital innovation and innovative approaches are adopted to shape places that are sustainable, resilient, accessible, and promote well-being. Adopting SMART approaches has the potential to be a game-changer for the delivery of strategic outcomes and, at the same time, improve efficiency and effectiveness whilst reducing costs across the public sector.

Category 3: Improving the environment, promoting health - sponsored by WSP

This award is to celebrate excellence in the delivery of environmental services – in particular energy, waste management, green spaces, local air quality, flood and water management – that also generate public health benefits. Entries will be judged on the innovation of their submission and the extent to which it has improved the natural environment in their area, and/or the efficiency of service delivery.
