NSIPs: where we are and what next

This session provided a snapshot of the Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) landscape under the Planning Act 2008 – highways, rail, strategic rail freight, solar, hydrogen & CO2 pipelines, airports and water infrastructure. It looked at the emerging reforms to the NSIP process and the imminent consultations on the Energy National Policy Statements and the National Networks National Policy Statement. Burges Salmon advised Anglesey Council throughout the new nuclear and associated grid connection NSIPs and intimately understand the “host” local authority perspective. They are also advising Gloucestershire County Council as NSIP promoter for the M5 Junction 10 scheme.
