The role of highway condition data in carbon management
Current highway condition data produces a wealth of information about our highways. The vast majority of this information is not currently used to manage our highway pavements in a proactive regime that would contribute to an holistic approach to the management of CO2. The session examined how existing data streams can be interrogated and applied to get a better understanding of the way in which modern asphalt pavements deteriorate and how this information can be used to direct scarce maintenance resources to minimise the carbon footprint of our highways.
