We were delighted to receive 28 bids, a healthy indicator of the levels of interest in testing new and innovative technologies on local roads. However, it has meant we have had to rethink the assessment process. Our initial plan had been to send all EoI to the Dragons’ Den on 22 October. This is no longer viable.
As such, we have agreed with DfT a slightly different process. Those changes, which whilst longer in time, will allow for the creation of the best and most ambitious pitches to the ‘Dragons’.
- All 28 bids will now be reviewed by an independent assessor. The aim is to identify 10-12 bids that will then proceed onto the Dragons’ Den. All applicants will receive feedback; in addition, those proceeding to the Dragons’ Den will be able to access additional support from WSP.
- The Dragons’ Den will take place on 9 November in London.
- The 5-6 finalists will be announced by the Transport Minister Jesse Norman at the ADEPT Autumn Conference in Manchester on 22 November.
Thank you for your patience with this slight change of approach.
