Highways England has been working with a wide range of stakeholders over the last year to develop a strategic economic growth plan, which it is calling The Road to Growth. This will explore the economic role of the road network, and explain how Highways England will further increase its contribution to the UK’s economy.
Highways England has now published a discussion paper to test its emerging thinking with stakeholders, prior to publishing its full plan in 2017. The paper outlines key research findings, Highways England’s economic vision and role in the economy, and its emerging approach to delivering this.
