As part of the CEDR Live Labs 2 project, rejuvenator/preservative materials were utilised in road trials organised by the South Campus. Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre (NTEC) was appointed to carry out a study assessing the mechanical performance, degree of saturation and effectiveness of rejuvenator/preservative materials such as PenTack, Reclamite and Rhinophalt. The scope of the study included measuring the densities of asphalt cores, stiffness modulus, assessing water uptake, and conducting rheological and chemical analyses on the extracted binders.
This study, conducted as part of the CEDR Live Labs 2 South Campus phase 2 framework, systematically evaluates the performance of two commercial rejuvenators (PenTack and Reclamite) applied to in-service (1 to 17+ years old) roads.
